Speakers in Schools

SPEAKERS IN SCHOOLS

The SA Great Speakers in Schools (SIS) program is developed for young South Australians based on the idea of attraction and retention - an important element of the SA Great strategic intent. The program assists in addressing the State's future needs in the areas of population and workforce, and encourages and inspires young people to follow their career aspirations here in South Australia.

The program features speakers, under the age of 45, from a diverse range of careers and backgrounds who are available to visit schools to share their personal and professional success stories with students. The program is aimed at secondary and upper primary schools.

Speakers are provided with specific training including presentation skills, labour market information etc. These forums also provide a networking opportunity for the speakers.

Thanks to the support of the Government of South Australia, BHP Billiton, Electranet and Hudson, this program is offered to schools at no cost.

SPEAKERS IN SCHOOLS OUT OF STATE TOUR

SIS 1.JPG

SA Great’s Speakers in Schools team toured regional Victoria this year to promote the defence career opportunities available in South Australia.

Joined by three SA speakers from the Defence Force, the team presented to over 350 students at seven schools across Portland and Hamilton in Victoria.

Students were intrigued to hear the career experiences from guest speaker, Robbie Roockley who works as an infantry solider in the Australian Regular Army. Students also heard from Julie Fairchild about her experiences as a Communication and Information Systems Sailor for the Royal Australian Navy.
