Lobethal Tapestry Weavers

The Lobethal Tapestry is a 1.65 x 2.50 metre work of art and history in the making. The weavers are engaged in weaving a colourful, informative tapestry designed to depict the history of Lobethal from before white settlement in 1842 to the present day. The creative process is particularly interesting because the weavers are following the lines of a full size ‘cartoon’ which is set up immediately behind the work in progress. This history-making piece of art is due to be completed by the end of 2009.
