SA Great Regional Awards

The Regional Awards celebrate and showcase the achievements of individuals, groups and businesses that have made significant contributions to regional South Australia.

Regional Award winners receive:

• A Glass Pear Trophy
• Framed certificate signed by the Premier of South Australia
• An invitation to the Awards celebration event in 2011
• Use of the Regional Category Award logo
• Public recognition of achievement in SA Great's broader programs and through media
• Regional membership of SA Great for 2011

Advantage SA hosted a celebratory cocktail function on Friday 26 March at the Hilton Adelaide in honour of the 2009 Regional Award winners.

The event also saw four renowned organisations inducted into the Telstra Hall of Fame, which recognises those who have received three or more Regional Awards in the program’s eleven-year history.

The 2010 Telstra Hall of Fame inductees are:

Beerenberg – Adelaide Hills region
Beerenberg is an Australian-owned family company based at Hahndorf, 30 minutes from Adelaide's CBD. They use the freshest farm produce and traditional recipes to make home-style jams, sauces, dressings and condiments. All products are made on the farm, which has been in the family since 1839, when the Paech family settled in Hahndorf. Since the first batch of strawberry jam was made in 1971, Beerenberg has expanded its range to over 55 products, and has been exporting since 1986.

Longview Vineyard – Adelaide Hills region
Longview Vineyard is set on undulating slopes reminiscent of classic old world estates and is gaining recognition for being a premium cool-climate wine producer, providing high-quality food, accommodation, functions  and a breathtaking cellar door. Within an hour’s drive from Adelaide, on the outskirts of historic Macclesfield, visitors become encompassed by the view as they experience what has made Longview a Regional Award winner.

Rich and Lingering – Adelaide Hills region
Rich & Lingering provide bespoke food and wine tours designed to gratify the senses. Their award winning private tours of South Australia’s premium wine regions enable their guests to meet the winemakers and producers, as well as visit behind the scenes. They provide the highest quality tailor made experiences for their guests, without taking themselves too seriously. Each private tour will have sole use of their luxury vehicle, and be accompanied by a personal wine guide. Rich & Lingering’s knowledgeable guide is not only a professional wine judge but is also ‘hands on’ in a boutique winery.


Riverland Youth Theatre – Murray and Mallee region
In 2010, RYT celebrates 25 years of enriching the lives of young people and the community through performing arts. Riverland Youth Theatre embraces the Riverland of South Australia and is the only dedicated Youth Arts organisation in the region. With 25 years of energetic existence, the organisation continues to march forward offering young people across the Riverland relevant and high quality performing arts experiences. Each year over 1,000 children and young people aged 5-26 participate in projects and activities. RYT inspires, nurtures, and cultivates the creativity & stories of Riverland young people.

The 2009 Regional Awards were a fantastic success, recognising many individuals, groups and organisations who have contributed to their region in the last 12 months.
